Concuring the Nile River!

This post is a little late but I wanted to wait for my friend Chris to give me the pictures he purchased after our rafting trip. All of the other interns and I took a trip to Jinja, Uganda which is seen as a hub of tourists and fun attractions for travelers – and that it was! We all had so much fun the whole time. We stayed at backpackers hostel, which is always so clutch and really enjoyed being out of Masaka for the first time and not worrying about work or research but instead just soaking up Uganda.
It was a surreal feeling the whole time I was rafting because I had to keep reminding myself that I was floating along the Nile. In all the dreams I’ve ever had for myself this definitely wasn’t on the list, but I’m happy I got the chance to cross off “almost drowning in the Nile River!”.  We rode on class 5 rapids and of course my raft had to be with all the ambitious guys that wanted to flip every chance we had, so what did we do? We flipped.  There is a 5 second feeling of shocked and death when being pulled under crazy rapids, but as soon as you hit the surface it’s an overwhelming rush of adrenaline and excitement! I hope you guys enjoy these pictures as much as I did and please don’t mind my facial expressions. I realize this isn’t my most attractive moment!

Love,
Mal
